Missinaibi – Journey to the Northern Sky
The legendary Missinaibi River runs north from Lake Superior to the arctic waters of James Bay. Like many northern rivers, the Missinaibi appeals to seasoned paddlers for the white-knuckle exhilaration of navigating miles of challenging rapids.
The guidebook was prompted by the number of deaths occurring annually on this heritage waterway park. There were serious errors on the topographical maps. Wilson’s research hit the front page of the Toronto Star newspaper which prompted the lax Ministry of Natural Resources to inject funds into Wilson’s research. Since the guidebook was released in 1994, there have been no recorded deaths along the river.
