The red canoe is symbolic of the Temagami wilderness and very much a part of the Canadian canoeing culture that built this country. Isolating the colour red into a mostly black and white rendering, gives it proper recognition as part of, but still separate, from the landscape. The technique applied is “stippled” or “pointillism” Pen & Ink with a watercolour wash taking approximately three months time to complete the work.
Pen & Ink & watercolour.
